The Brisbane Racing Club (BRC) is the major sponsor of the Queensland Horse Racing Museum which is powered by the Thoroughbred Racing History Association (TRHA). The TRHA is a not-for-profit organisation established to preserve the history of the thoroughbred industry for the general public and industry participants. It is staffed by enthusiastic volunteers who have a background in racing and are keen to exchange the knowledge stored in the Research Centre & Archive housed on Doomben racecourse to the public on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 10am and 1pm or by appointment outside these hours.

Our displays at the Racing Museum in the heritage-listed Old Tote building at Eagle Farm racecourse are open to the general public by prior appointment only.

The TRHA welcomes the donation of objects that will complement and fulfil our current collections. Each donation request is thoughtfully considered by our committee to determine if the gift is in line with the specific criteria for the acquisition and acceptance of donations, as outlined in the TRHA Collections Policy; any object accepted into the TRHA’s collection should be consistent with our mission, be relevant, and be properly cared for. PREVIOUS Event (museum open day)- SATURDAY 30 AUGUST 2025

To celebrate the 160th year of racing at the Eagle Farm racecourse, the Brisbane Racing Club (BRC) hosted a variety of events on 30 August showcasing its history which you can view here. This included the Museum being open all day to raceday patrons. They came into the Old Tote Building to visit us and relive the glorious past. They viewed Tulloch's 1961 Brisbane Cup trophy, numerous photos and paintings of the great horses that have raced here and watched replays of the greatest races held here on the information kiosk via the Eagle Farm Folder under the Venues Page.

We've won the Cup !!!

Queensland Racing's longest hoodoo stretching 163 years was broken last year with the win by Knight's Choice in the 2024 Melbourne Cup. Trained at the Sunshine Coast by John Symons & Sheila Laxon, Knight's Choice is the first locally trained horse to ever win the Cup. A fairytale result for all concerned especially jockey Robbie Dolan who came to Queensland 2 years ago to resurrect his career when opportunities were drying up down south. The most remarkable part of the win is how Knight's Choice can stay 3200m based on his breeding. His sire Extreme Choice was a Blue Diamond Stakes winner (who had already sired a Golden Slipper winner) and never raced further than 1200m. It reminds oneself of Bletchingly who only won races up to 1100 metres but sired Kingston Town who could win over 3200 metres. Must be stoutness in Knight's Choices dam Midnight Pearl being a daughter of More Than Ready.
